Gary, age 66, passed away at his home south of Wamego due to complications from cancer. He was the son of Lyle Gene and Willie Mae (Smothers) Morris. He graduated from Sheffield High School in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1972 and Coffeyville Community Junior College in 1987 with an associates degree in business. He never married. He and his older brother, Tom, ran a D-jay service "River City Trucking Company" in the late 1970s in Coffeyville. He was the Stage Manager for live performances (sound and lighting) for many years in Las Vegas and Branson. He met many people while in Branson, including Johnnie Lee, Bob Anderson, Geechy Guy, Rufus Taylor, and Willie Nelson to name a few. He became great friends with Geech and Rufus, traveling around the US with them as production manager for their comedy shows. He loved golfing, playing bar trivia, music, and cooking. Most of all, he was a huge fan of the Oakland (Las Vegas) Raiders. He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Thomas, Denise, Terry, and Todd. He is survived by his sisters, Teresa Weixelman and Rhonda Schley, 10 nieces and nephews, and 37 great-nieces and great-nephews. A Celebration of Life Gathering was held at Celebrations in Wamego. A graveside service was held at Fairview Cemetery in Coffeyville.
