BEAUFORT - Mary Spence Thompson Midgett, daughter of Redding Aycock Thompson and Mary Adair Spence Thompson; sister to Redding Jr.; wife of 69 years to James Aubrey Midgett; mother to Jane, Ray, Lea, and Russell; Nana to Ashley, Brooks, Paige, Bonner, Corinne, Janelle, and to Lauren, Ally, Parker, Cooper, Abby, Avery, and Jessie; and "Tommy" to the friends she cherished from her college days in Chapel Hill and Alpha Delta Pi sorority, from her many good years in Kinston and her happy retirement in Beaufort, from her membership in D.A.R. and many other community organizations in which she was active, and from her church fellowships. She loved much and was much loved. A service for her will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, February 15, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Beaufort with the Rev. John B. Carlisto officiating and the Rev. Caleb J. Lee assisting. Arrangements are by Brooks Funeral Home and Crematory Inc. of Morehead City. "May the wings of a butterfly kiss the sun, find your shoulder to light upon, and bring you luck (and Tommy's spirit of fun), today, tomorrow, and beyond."Spouse: James Aubrey Midgett (M. 1944)
