Margaret (Chmura) Collins, 81, of Rocky Hill passed away peacefully on Friday, August 6, 2021, at home, with her family by her side. Margaret was born in New Britain on October 11, 1939 to the late Joseph and Kathleen Chmura.
She went on to graduate from Saint Francis School of Nursing and to have a successful career as an Epidemiologist nurse for the Hospital for Special Care in New Britain. Margaret was truly a family woman. She was caring, passionate and, of course, loving. She raised six children with her husband John Collins and went on to have numerous grandchildren whom she cherished.
Margaret is survived by her children Patrick J. Collins of Melbourne, FL, Kevin C. Collins of Glastonbury, CT, Timothy D. Collins of Stanley, NC, Michael S. Collins of Park City, UT, Maureen and her husband Bryan Bourgoin of Tampa, FL, and Mary-Kate T. Collins of Rocky Hill, CT; her grandchildren Joe, Colleen, Sean, Katharine, Alexandra, Andrew, Christopher, Samuel, John Michael, Meggan, Michael, and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband John, grandson E.J. Patz, and granddaughter Arianna Hasani.
Friends and relatives may pay their respects to the Collins family on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 from 4-6 PM at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd., Wethersfield. A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Margaret's life will be held on Wednesday, August 10, 2021 at 10:00AM in Saint Patrick – Saint Anthony Church, 285 Church Street, Hartford (All attendees are asked to go directly to church).
