Julia "Joan" Franklin, age 92, of Newark, DE, passed away on Friday, August 6, 2021.

Born in Spencer, IN on November 13, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Ola and Hattie (Gilbert) Truax. Joan made her career as a secretary with Owen County State Bank with more than 20 years of dedicated service. She was a proud and devoted member of First Presbyterian Church of Newark.

An avid sports fan, Joan enjoyed cheering on the Philadelphia Phillies and Indiana Hoosiers and watching the Indianapolis 500.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Olice "Bud" Franklin and siblings, Jean Winders, Mary Jane Bowman, Corine Hurst, and Robert Truax. Joan is survived by her daughter, Olicea Lorenz (Steve); grandchildren, Adam Protano (Sarah Schulte), David Lorenz (Natalie Dobek), and Aly Lorenz (Pete Nellius); and great granddaughter, Kit Nellius.

Services and burial at Head of Christiana Cemetery will be held privately.
