Born into a farming family in Galway, NY, Chuck graduated high school in 1951 and apprenticed with his cousin installing flooring.
Chuck opened his Sherman Tile Company business on Middleline Road in Ballston Spa, NY, in 1956.
He married Donna Faber in 1953, and had three sons.
After Donna's unfortunate passing, Chuck remarried Lorraine Stephenson in 1976 which brought two more boys to the family.
Chuck was an active member of the Saratoga Springs Chamber of Commerce, Elks, Home Builder's Association, and Simpson United Methodist Church in Rock City Falls.
Chuck enjoyed hard work and hard play. On most weekends, the families of Middleline Road would get together to socialize in Chuck's basement, BBQ at the dug pond pavilion, or camp in the Adirondacks. Chuck was famous for organizing the social agenda and earned the title of Wagon Master. Sherman Tile Company parties were always the talk of the town and Chuck memorialized many events with his ever present VHS camcorder. Chuck and Lorraine enjoyed socializing with friends and spent many weekends dancing the night away. They also loved to travel. They frequently vacationed in Maine and traveled to other places like Puerto Rico, Hawaii, and Alaska. They also enjoyed traveling through western states collecting Native American and cowboy art. Chuck loved living on his hill across from the tile company where he would sit by the fire and enjoy the view of Vermont. He lived at home for the remainder of his days.
Chuck is survived by wife Lorraine; sons Skip, Rick, John, and Pete; grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. He was predeceased by his grandson Jason, and his son Joe.
Chuck made everyone feel like they were part of his family and he will be sorely missed.
Burial will follow in Galway Cemetery.
