From Fredericksburg Funeral Home:

Tommie was born December 8, 1952 to Tommie Ross Turner Sr and Betsy Robinson Turner. He grew up in what used to be the "small" town of Frisco, Texas on a farm. He attended A&M on a rodeo scholarship, returning to his farming and ranching family life after a serious bull riding accident. Several years later, he became a successful entrepreneur, building a large advertising firm in Dallas. Selling his agency at 49 years old, he went back to the ranching life he loved, and soon became the largest angus breeder in Texas. In 2009, he bought his first racehorse, Jess Send Me, and accomplished a goal most in the Quarter Horse Racing world strive for their entire life. He came in 2nd in the All American Futurity in Ruidoso. That win sparked the next 11 years of breeding and raising several outstanding racehorses and winning many awards.

Tommie was an avid outdoorsman. His love of fishing and hunting was passed down to his children. He gave away youth hunts on his ranch to charity because he enjoyed teaching young children gun safety and hunting skills. He loved to cook for his family and friends. Everyone knew to "stay out of his kitchen" and appreciated his ability to prepare unique delicious meals. He and his wife were experienced divers traveling the world to explore the most remote islands and photograph the best reefs. He often referred to himself as the most blessed man on earth. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Tommie is survived by his wife Dian Turner of Blanco; daughter Allison Turner of Blanco; sons, Jamie Turner and wife Crystal of Robinson, Travis Turner and wife Charissa of Austin, as well as 4 grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents Tommie R. Turner Sr. and Betsy R. Turner; daughter Lynde Christine Turner.

Visitation for Mr. Turner will be Sunday August 8, 2012 from 2:00p.m. -4:00p.m. in Fredericksburg Funeral Home.
