Wes's Celebration of Life ** The Celebration of Life service for Wes at 10 am on Saturday August 7th will be a joyful occasion so come dressed as such, comfortable and ready to celebrate his life. The family will be in bright colors as Wes's personality was so bright it entered the room before he did! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~' Wes's Story

Wes Crowder, loving husband, amazing father, dedicated son, cherished brother, loyal friend, and Mighty Man of God went home to be with Jesus on 7/20/21 at the young age of 55 ("Double Nickels!" as Wes put it). He will be forever missed by his bride of 22 years, Trish, his children and grandchildren (Lauren, Cameron, Joshua, and Katelynn his daughter –in-love who gave him his first Grandson Sam), his Mother, Linda, and Sister, Jennifer both from Arlington, TX, as well as countless friends and family all over the world.

He was born October 26, 1965 in Arlington, TX to Herb & Linda Crowder as the younger brother to Jennifer. The 2 siblings grew up having many adventures together in a home filled with laughter and love. Wes grew up loving bikes, motorcycles, cars (anything FAST really), and most of all playing football through high school. He attended Bowie High until it was closed his Junior year which he never really got over because he was forced to attend their rival school Arlington High where he graduated in 1984. He was well loved by all who grew up with him and he had stayed in touch with many of them through the years.

Wes went on to study accounting and computer programming at Texas A&M where he made great memories and wonderful friendships. He was very involved with a business fraternity there where he made lifelong friends and really lived life with zeal. That "zeal" led to him finishing his college studies at the University of Arlington with a Bachelors of Business Administration in 1992. Though he technically graduated form UofA, in his heart he was an Aggie through and through! Watched every game, collected ATM memorabilia, and even decorated the house all in maroon! He has fond memories of being a part of the Yell Team and building the famous Aggie Bonfires. Whoop!

After college, Wes went on to begin a long and successful career as a Sales Executive, selling anything from technology, software, trade credit insurance, and people (aka staffing). Everyone who worked with Wes loved him and always talked about how he would go above and beyond to help anyone with anything at anytime. He would literally bring people toilet paper at 2 am if they needed it and wouldn't hesitate to give you the shirt off his own back if it would bless you. He developed lasting relationships with his co-workers and clients alike in every job he had and kept in touch with many of them no matter where their lives had taken them. People often joked that Wes could sell ice to Eskimos because of his true genuine, sincere, and larger than life personality.

He always said though that the greatest sale he ever made was convincing his bride, Trish, to marry him. He "chased" her for 4 ½ years before she finally let him "catch" her. Theirs is a true modern day fairy tale of true love, which is why the theme song from Princess Bride was their wedding song. Wes was so amazing that he planned the entire wedding (they eloped to marry on a mountain top in Lake Tahoe because they had fallen in love on a mountain top 5 years earlier) all Trish had to do was show up with a dress! He took care of all the details down to even designing her bouquet out of three dozen red roses shaped into a heart. He designed their wedding bands to include 7 "Princess cut" diamonds in each band because the number 7 is the Biblical number for completion. How appropriate then that they married on July 7… 7/7 as they were so well matched that they really did complete one another. Their love spanned over 26 years together, married 22 of those, and they continued to call each other Bride and Groom often telling others they were newlyweds decades into their romance. They loved to embarrass their children by dancing together in the kitchen, public displays of affection, and just general flirting daily because they wanted to make sure their kids wouldn't settle for less than a Godly & loving marriage like theirs. They really made a great team & 26 years was not enough.

Wes's life unapologetically revolved around his close knit family. He was so proud of his 3 children and supported them in every way as a loving, gentle, and fun Daddy. He always made sure they had joy in their lives through crazy adventures like go-carting, sledding, hikes, camping, boating, fishing, exploring, … just taking life by the horns and holding on while really living life to the fullest! He was always doing some project with the kids whether it be building a full size working trebuchet to launch rubber chickens hundreds of feet to building a hover craft the whole family could ride on together and so many more over the years. If they expressed an interest in something he figured out how to make it happen for them… and always did it with such gusto that everyone around was inspired too! Oh the science experiments they came up with! It kind of evolved into a ministry where Wes would lead by example in showing fathers how to relate to and be involved with their children when the world tries to separate dads from their families. Wes also was known to unofficially adopt lots of kids who needed a strong and loving father figure in their lives. Many of these kids grew up and brought their own families back to meet Wes, often referring to him as their "Second Dad". He was so greatly loved by so many he mentored and loved on.

Not only did he serve his family well, he served the community well all his days. He was formerly a member of Hope Fellowship Church in Frisco early on when he and Trish first moved to Frisco., back when it was so small they met in a preschool/ daycare building up until they built the new building on Rolater. He served on the set up team, greeting team, in the children's ministry, the youth ministry, the men's ministry… really anywhere they needed him he could always be counted on to show up and lend a hand any way he could.

He took that servant's heart to Stonebriar Community Church where he currently is a member and was an active volunteer in the Community Cares and Missional Living ministries. You would often see him on Sunday mornings greeting at one of the many Kiosks announcing upcoming opportunities to serve our fellow man through service projects and donations. If he wasn't there you could catch him loading trailers with food donations, moving boxes of school supply donations or many other things all year long because he and his family (under his inspirational servant leadership) were known as "Team Cool-Aid". When he wasn't serving at church he was serving the homeless in Dallas with his family, and serving the widows and single moms of our community. Many widows, single moms, and hurting families always looked forward to the Christmas Lights trailer tour Wes led yearly. He also served them by becoming their "surrogate son/husband" doing all the things a son/husband would do for his mom/wife like fix fridges, cover water faucets before freezes, moving heavy furniture, changing light bulbs, "tech support".. whatever they needed he was there in a flash to be their Superman.

Speaking of Superman (yes another name he earned) he would often look for motorists along the road as he drove so he could help change flats, jump start cars, or just help however he could. Neighbors knew to call him whenever they had a leak or a problem with their house or needed to borrow a tool or had a snake in their garage that needed removing. He was just that kind of superhero, from the moment his eyes opened until they closed. If you were blessed to be able to call Wes your friend then you knew the depth of his love for a friend. No request was too big or too small that he would not do everything in his power to fulfill it for a friend. Many times he sacrificed his own sleep, strength, resources, whatever to help a friend in need at all hours of the night no matter what else he had going on in his life. That is just how he loved out loud with everything he had.

Faith, Family, Friends, Fun and Fishing were Wes's greatest passions in life. He loved his family, loved serving his friends and community, and when he had a little extra time he loved to live life to the fullest through his hobbies and passions like the following:

1. Fishing: He took it VERY seriously even competed in tournaments with his two best friends every year. He would joke that it was "fishing" but not so much "catching" most of the time but then it was never about the fish but more about the fellowship.

2. Football/ Sports of any kind really: His favorite memories included the times he visited the Dallas Cowboy stadium behind the scenes tours with his kids and good friends where he got footballs autographed by the players. He acted like a giddy schoolgirl about the whole thing and loved every minute of it. However that memory was beat by the time he got to suit up with, hang out with in the locker room, and placekick for a Semi-Pro team for his birthday. He kicked a 50 yard Field goal that day! It was really super cool! The runner up memories included indoor skydiving and the time he drove a racecar at 100+ mph! Funny story, his wife accidently videotaped over his VHS copy of the first ride in the race car and felt so bad about it that Wes got to go back and DRIVE the race car the 2nd time! He was so overjoyed and he got to share that moment with his best friends!!!

3. FUN!!! Of ALL kinds: sledding, co-carts, para-sailing with a tarp & a skateboard, crazy boat adventures with his little john boat, practicing target skills with any weapon you can imagine (axes, hatchets, knives, throwing stars, archery, guns of all kinds) not because he was violent, in fact he was the total opposite.. he cried at commercials sometimes… but it was because he used these things to teach life lessons to his own children, the children that considered him their 2nd Dad and all the families he mentored showing Dad's how to engage with their kids again in fun ways.

He loved to create things and share those creations with others always with FUN as the ultimate goal. He could "RedNeck" build anything and had lots of opportunities over the many years of homeschool projects and adventures. For example, he built a working life sized trebuchet with his kids to chunk rubber chickens across a football field for a "Chicken Chunking Challenge" at their homeschool family picnic. He helped his kids build a hover craft that the whole family could ride on for the Homeschool science fair then spent the whole science fair giving the other kids 9and some brave adults) rides all night. He so enjoyed spending time with his kids building a jet-john boat from a jet ski and a tin can basically, then taking them on wild water adventures in it. His most recent creation was the fully functioning Centaur costume that he wore for the 2021 Homeschool Prom. This was no ordinary prom and no ordinary costume. He spent the two nights of prom taking pictures with the over 2000 kids who flew in from all over the country for their special night and he stayed in character all night! He built his costume so that the back legs would articulate with the opposite front leg when he walked so when he led the Conga-line on the 6 dance floors it actually looked like a horse walking! He was the hit of the prom! He was actually more excited about the Prom than his daughter because he got to carry 3 REAL swords!! He was so creative!

No matter what he did or what he created he put his whole heart into it and with such gusto! Wes was truly pure JOY with skin on it! He was God's LOVE with skin on it too.! Who are we kidding… Wes was ALL the Fruits of the Spirit! He was God's good and faithful servant. That is why we celebrate his life today, not in mourning but in the knowledge that we will see him again in Heaven because he knew and believed in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.

He would want you to know Jesus too so you can join him one day walking the streets of gold and fishing with Peter in Heaven. If you don't know our Jesus just ask his Bride or someone you know to share with you how to know Him too. You won't regret it. Then you too can live in the hope and assurance that you will see your loved ones again one day in the presence of our Almighty and Loving Father in Heaven. Wes will be there to welcome you with his larger than life personality… as one friend put it.. He is a walking door greeter so it would be perfect for him to be the one standing next to Jesus to welcome you into eternity.

As you remember Wes and how he lived his life, may you be encouraged, inspired, and motivated to live your life with gusto too as you share your blessings with others and honor the Lord in all your ways. Thank you for your friendship and for loving Wes too. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ *** Wes's family set up a scholarship fund for their son, Cameron, and have requested that in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the scholarship fund which will help him complete his Mechanical Engineering degree. Donations can be made through Venmo: @trishcrowder.

Thank you for loving on this family in one of the hardest times of their lives.
