Mr. Eddie Lee Akridge age 75, of Starke passed away at his home Monday,
May 21, 2018. He was born February 9, 1943 in Douglas, Georgia to the late Broward and Mary (Giddens) Akridge. Mr. Akridge has been a lifelong resident of Starke; he was baptized at Hope Baptist Church and he had attended Bradford County High School. Prior to retirement, Mr. Akridge was employed with Clay Electric Coop. for 27 years before retiring as a meter technician. In his early years he was an avid hunter then his new passion became restoring hot rods. Everyone who new Mr. Akridge will remember him as a man who loved to make others laugh. Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by two children Monica Ann Akridge and Darren Lee Akridge. Survivors are his loving and devoted wife of 56 years Gwendolyn (Wynn) Akridge and their son Shawn Eddie Akridge (Edna) all of Starke; seven siblings Edgar George Akridge of Keystone Heights, Eula Mae Crews of Jacksonville, Emmett Akridge, Alma Packham, Elaine Crawford, and Allen Akridge all of Starke and Jean Readyhough of Live Oak. Also left behind are six grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family. A reception for Mr. Akridge will be held Tuesday, May 22, 2018 between 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the home of Allen and Elaine Crawford, 3943 NW CR 233, Starke. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 23, 2018 with Mr. Allen Crawford officiating. Interment will be at Prevatt Cemetery. Arrangements are by JONES-GALLAGHER FUNERAL HOME, 620 Nona St. Starke, FL 32091.
