Clara Ann Johnson, 84, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at her home in Leander, Texas with members of her family close by her side.

Clara was born in Burkeville, Texas to Marshall Raymond and Clara Eva Rogers on August 21, 1936; the ninth of ten children.

Some years later her family moved to Kingsville, Texas where Clara graduated from Henrietta M. King High School, and was involved in many youth activities of her church, Kingsville Church of Christ.

Clara had a beautiful voice, and was offered a scholarship to ACC from the Choral Department, which she turned down in order to marry.

As an adult, Clara continued to be an active member of the Church wherever she lived.

After her retirement from the Postal Service, she was able to devote more time to teaching classes, helping produce teaching materials, and painting backdrops for VBSs the Church Youth Group would hold in other cities.

She also enjoyed painting with acrylics, and produced many pieces of art which
she gifted to her family and friends.

Clara was devoted to her family, and selflessly gave of herself until she was no longer able to.

She is survived by her children Kay Vaughn of Leander, and John Gregory and his wife, Sheryl, of Rockport; grandchildren Ryan Vaughn and wife, Becky, Lauren Hollas and husband, Tony, Stephen Gregory and wife, Katy, Kelly Escamilla and husband, Roman, Brian Gregory, Ashley Foote and husband, Robert, and Dalton Gregory; great-grandchildren Tatum and Callan Vaughn, Sophia, Blake and Kiera Hollas, Emma Gregory, Alora, Braedon, Garrison, Holden, Logan, and Aeralyn Escamilla, Robbie, Evelyn, Eli Foote, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Clara was preceded in death by her son David Michael (Mike) Gregory, granddaughter Wendy Kay Miller, parents M.R. and Eva Rogers, and siblings Helen Skelton, Nell Mitchell, Wendell Rogers, E.A. (Duke) Rogers, Joseph (Joe) Rogers, Martha Thomasson, and Will (Bill) Rogers.

The family wishes to thank Compassus Hospice for the help and care given to Clara during her struggle with dementia.
