Charlene Daughtery Leonard, 80, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Monday August 2, 2021 at her home in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. She was born on January 5, 1941 in Mullins, South Carolina to the late Rudolph "Grip" Daughtery, Sr. & Mary Helen Hayes Daughtery.
Along with her parents, Charlene is reunited in passing with her sister, Page Daughtery Spann and her brother-in-law, Harry G. Bates III.
Charlene was a devoted and caring wife, mother and friend. She was a member of Belin Memorial United Methodist Church and was also an original member of the Wachesaw Plantation Club where she was the Lady's Club Golf Champion in 1996. Above all else, Charlene loved her family with her whole heart. She will be deeply missed.
Left to cherish Charlene's memory are her beloved husband of 58 years, Thomas Vance Leonard of Murrells Inlet; sons, T. Christopher (Melanie) Leonard & Charles (Debbie) Leonard, all of Murrells Inlet; her adoring grandchildren, Thomas M. Leonard, Helen M. Leonard, James C. Leonard, Sadie D. Leonard, & Vance Leonard; brother, Rick (Linda) Daughtery; sister, Pat Bates, (Ted Chapman), and brother in law, Sammy Spann all of Murrells Inlet; as well as a large, loving, extended family and many supportive friends and neighbors.
A Celebration of Charlene's life will be held at 1pm on Saturday August 7, 2021 at Belin Memorial UMC, 4182 US-17 BUS, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576. The celebration service will be live streamed at belinumc.org. There will be an inurnment immediately following the service within the church Columbarium, and a reception at the Belin family Life Center.
