This marriage was solemnized between us John Wetmore Sherwood & Amanda Mitchell Merrill In the Presence of William Polleys. Recorded and Registered 30th Dec 1830."
1850 census of Dover, Piscataquis, Maine p: John W Sherwood, age 42, born in Massachusetts, tinplate worker, listed with wife, Amanda M, also 42 and children, Mary M, 19, Alithea B, 17, John M, 13, George, 14, Wm H H, 10, Joseph E, 8 and Theo H, 5 as well as Abagail Kidder, 60.
Published in the Piscataquis (ME) Observer on 14 Jun 1855 p2: "DEATHS---In this village, on the 12th inst., after a long and lingering illness, which had baffled all medical skill to cure, and which he bore with Christian fortitude and resignation to the will of his Heavenly Master, Mr. John W. Sherwood, aged 46 years."
