Gary retired as a plant manager at Kewaunee Scientific Corporation in Statesville, NC. He was a Kentucky Colonel and a member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church in Henderson. He was a choir member and volunteered his time in the community and with many organizations such as St. Anthony's Hospice, Brain Injury Adventure Camp in Robards, and Habitat for Humanity. He enjoyed golfing and spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his daughter, Donna Lynn Bell; grandson, Timothy Pike; and brother, Charlie Bell.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Helen (Farney) Bell; sons, Doug Bell (Ardee) and Matt Bell (Cristal); granddaughters, Madison Dawn, Raegan, Anna and Kendall; great granddaughter, Channing; sister, Virginia Carman; beloved pets, Gracie and Winnie; special friends, nieces, and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, August 7 at Chapel Hill UMC with Pastor Mike Snyder and Dr. Hollis Marshall officiating. Burial will be at Fairmont Cemetery with full military rites conducted by American Legion Worsham Post 40 Burial Detail and Honor Guard. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday, August 6 and 9-11 a.m. Saturday, August 7, both at the church.
