On Sunday, July 25, 2021, Karen Latham Roberts passed away at age 74. Karen was born to Cynthia and John Latham in Philadelphia on October 23, 1946. Karen graduated from Temple University with a degree in communications, being the first one in her family to attain an undergraduate degree.

Karen developed her career as an insurance underwriter, being one of the first females in this profession. Kemper Insurance Company transferred Karen to their Chicago area office where Karen worked for many years. She enjoyed photography and tennis.

She met her future husband, Thomas J Roberts at Lake Barrington Shores where they both enjoyed tennis and golf. Karen and Tom were married at Lake Barrington Shores on August 8, 1998. They attended St Mark's Episcopal Church in Barrington.

When Tom became ill in 2015, Karen tended to him with loving care. Tom passed away on March 14, 2018. When she became ill, Karen was lovingly cared for by close family friends (whom she considered family) Joree (David) Morris, Joree's mother Susan Mason and Cheryl Hinkens.

Karen was preceded in death by her husband and her parents. She is survived by her mother, Elaine Latham in Maryland, brother Richard and his wife in Pennsylvania and sister Patricia McBride. She is also survived by extended family including sisters-in-law Cathy Roberts and Tracey Roberts (Jeff Wright), nieces and nephews Jessica Roberts, Jason Roberts, Caitriona Terry and Ryan Terry, as well as her beloved great nephews Henry, James and Wyatt Morris, whom she insisted call her "GAK," short for Great Aunt Karen (and Tom was "GUT" for Great Uncle Tom).

Internment at St Mark's will be at a later date.
