Edward Arnold Kelly, Sr., age 73, formerly of Decatur, Michigan passed away in Stone Mountain, Georgia on Friday, July 23, 2021. Edward served a term in the United States Navy and then as a soldier in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Subsequent to his honorable discharge from the Military, Edward received extensive electrical training from Job Corps, administered by the U.S. Dept. of Labor. He was eventually employed as the Electrical Inspector for the City of Gary's City Hall and then as the body guard for Gary, Indiana's 16th mayor - Mayor Richard Hatcher. Edward later worked as a Master Electrician at Sibley Machine Foundry Corp and AM General. Edward married Evelyn Burt and had a home bustling with 7 children; Terry, Edward Jr., Rondo, Felicia, Rodney, Michelle, and Tamika. Edward Sr. was a man of pensive thought and a hardy laugh. In the latter decade of his life he accepted God's call of salvation. Edward then spent his days studying God's word and journaling his life activities. And, when it was Edward's time to step from time into eternity, he did so peacefully due to natural causes. Ecclesiastes 3:1 "To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven." Edward knew his season had come to a close, and thus he prepared accordingly. Preceded in death by his parents Oliver P. Kelly, Mother Velma (Glover) Kelly; brothers Albert and Nick Kelly, and daughter Michelle Lovely, Edward is survived by his former wife Evelyn (Burt) Wilson, sons Edward Kelly, Jr., Rondo Kelly, Terry Lovely, Rodney Lovely; daughters, Felicia Lovely and Tamika Kelly; and a host of family and loved ones. Funeral Service and Military Salute for Edward Arnold Kelly, Sr. will be held Friday, August 6th; 10 AM viewing and 11 AM service, at Emmanuel Church of God in Christ,106 East Saint Mary's Street, Decatur, MI 49045. Due to COVID-19 restrictions face masks/coverings are required for all in attendance. If desired, friends may make memorial contributions to Emmanuel Church of God in Christ.
