AGE 69 YEARS
Katie Mae Wilder Dumas was born in Trenton, North Carolina to Godfrey Wilder Sr. and Emma Jane Dillahunt Wilder. Katie graduated from Jones Central High School. After high school, she completed Job Corp in Philadelphia studying to become a nurse's aide. In 1974, Katie left Philadelphia and headed to Boston where she received employment at Tufts Dental school as a lab assistant. She worked for Tufts Dental for 40 faithful years before retiring.
Katie joined Timothy Baptist church in Roxbury, Ma in 1993. She served on the usher board and the hospitality committee. She was a faithful volunteer, who loved to cook and serve. She helped to prepare and serve Thanksgiving dinners alongside her sister Lelia at Walthall's Chapel for several years. Katie was well known for her mac n' cheese which was a "must have" at every family dinner. Katie was married to James Dumas on November 17, 2001. They have one son from their union.
On July 28, 2021, Katie took her final rest. Katie was preceded in death by her father Godfrey Wilder Sr., her mother Emma Jane Dillahunt Wilder, brother Godfrey Wilder Jr., brother Sylvester Wilder, brother Willie Louis Wilder and a brother-in-law of Augusta, GA. Katie leaves to cherish her, her loving husband James Dumas Sr., her son James Dumas Jr., her brother David Lee Wilder of New Bern, NC, sisters Ada Wilder Davis (late Bennie Lee Davis, Sr) of Trenton, NC, Lelia Wilder Owens (Roy Owens, Sr.) of Boston, MA, Lillie Wynn (William Wynn, Sr.) of New Haven, CT, Mary Barnes of New Bern, NC,a brother-in-law of Augusta, GA.
