Mary Louise was born in York hospital September 17, 1936 to The Rev. Joseph Harris , and Dora Mary DeWire Miller. At the time of her birth the Miller family consisted of two brothers: Joseph Harris Miller, Jr. and Paul Eugene Miller. Her father served St. Paul's Evangelical Church of York from 1936 until 1943 when they moved to Carlisle, Pa. They moved to Lock Haven, Pa. at the end of her junior year of high school, and she graduated from Lock Haven High School in 1954. She then enrolled in the elementary school curriculum of Lock Haven State College. In 1960 she graduated from Millersville State College with a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education, and later from Shippensburg State College with a Master's degree.

Mary Louise played the piano, organ, and french horn.

Mary Louise first noticed her memory loss in 2018 which got progressively worse. In the end of April 2021 she entered Ohesson nursing home. She has good days and bad days.

From 1962 to 2016 she worked on her genealogy. The Miller family settled in Washington Township, Snyder County, Pa. You can follow the family back to Jacob Miller who married Elizabeth Straub.

On November 30, 2021 she got up in the middle of the night and fell. She was taken to Geisinger Lewistown hospital and transferred to Danville. She returned to Ohesson Manor (now Greenwood Village) where she has been in hospice care. Mary Louise died at Greenwood Village Nursing home at 9 pm on December 6, 2021. She had massive head injuries from her fall.

A friend of ours in Maine wrote the following:

"We had a neighborhood gathering over at Jamie and Sheila's the other night and many asked how you were doing. They were saddened to hear of Mary Louise's passing. Everyone had such wonderful things to say about her, and they send their condolences to you. I should add that the neighborhood is so touched by the generosity of you and Mary Louise to pass on the domes to me. I thought I would mention it only so you know that you are still in the thoughts and hearts of the community here."

On June 29, 2003 Mr. Francis N. Boynton, Superintend of Chelsea School wrote: "It is with mixed emotions that I accept your letter of resignation. I have seen the dedication and skill with which you have engaged students in Grade Two at the Chelsea School. You are one of the most outstanding teachers with who I have had the privilege of working.

I have appreciated your support during my years at Chelsea and have a total respect for you both as a teacher and a person.

Although your resignation will be a loss to the Chelsea School, I respect your desire to enter into a new phase of your life. You certainly deserve the benefits of retirement and i hope you will enjoy this new experience."

Mary Louise was an angel. I was fortunate to have been married to her. I didn't deserve her.
