Born April 1, 1942 in Exeter, she was the daughter of Robert E. and Antonia M. (Pelletier) Albee. She was a lifelong resident of Newmarket and graduated from Newmarket High School Class of 1961.
Joyce worked for many years in the hospitality field; cooking, serving, catering and ran a lunch cart in the old Timberland Shoe Factory before fulfilling a long time dream of opening her own restaurant, Joyce's Kitchen 1985-2008, known for "Good Down Home Cooking". Joyce was well known for her sarcastic wit, hardworking tough, "do it the right way" attitude and her love of all people - and she knew many. She would often say "everyone who comes through my front door is not only a customer, but a friend". She would often open the restaurant for the Town and State crews and anyone out plowing in the middle of the night during snow storms, just so "those boys were fed". Joyce loved family unconditionally and a full house with her kids and all heir friends. She loved baking and cooking, had an extremely creative mind, sewing, making jewelry, writing and drawing. She loved to dance and the family finds comfort knowing she is dancing with Adam.
Joyce served for the Town of Newmarket ,Trustees of the Trust Fund for many years. As well as on the Board of Directors for the Newmarket Housing Authority.
In addition to her parents, Robert & Toni, she was also predeceased by her husband Owen Russell, her brother, Bob, and her son, Adam Russell,
Joyce will be remembered as a hardworking mother to Jeffrey Owen Russell, Todd Robert Russell (wife Valerie), Tina Marie Russell, and Christine Russell Belsky; grandmother of Derek Russell, Gunner Russell, Megan (Monroe) Greer, Cameron Russell, Jacob Russell, Mason Morin, and Dyllon Morin; great grandmother of Logan Russell, Madison Russell, Luke Greer and Bodin Greer.
A walk through will be held on Monday, April 19th from 3 - 7 p.m. at Kent & Pelczar Funeral Home & Crematory, 77 Exeter Road (Route 108), Newmarket, NH.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, at 11 a.m. in Calvary Cemetery, next to 191 Exeter Road, Newmarket.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Adam Russell Scholarship, C/O Town of Newmarket Finance Office, 186 Main Street, Newmarket, NH.
