C.B. Silverthorne, 82 went to be with his Lord on July 30, 2021 surrounded by his family. And while C.B. is no longer here on earth, C.B.'s Christian faith lets us know that the heavenly father received him in heaven, where he joined his beloved parents, siblings, and countless friends.

He was born on January 6, 1939 to William Silverthorne and "Mama" Bertha Paul Silverthorne in New Bern, North Carolina. His love for the land never waned and it was a place where he loved the freedom of exploring outside. He was one of twelve siblings and was raised in a loving Christian family. His father was a tobacco farmer, school teacher and in his later years became a Baptist preacher. His mother was a homemaker that loved to cook.

He is survived by his wife, and love of his life, Suzie Bush Silverthorne; two sons, Scott Silverthorne and wife Cheryl; Chris Silverthorne and wife Hope; and daughter, Dusti Riewe and husband Kermit; and brother Frank Silverthorne, his treasured grandchildren, Peyton Silverthorne, Colton Riewe, Keegan Riewe and Chesney Riewe and nephew Luke Bush. Spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and family was his greatest joy and filled his heart with love.

He served in the Air Force in 1959 and was the youngest "first shirt" Sargent at Bergstrom. While stationed there, he played on the Air Force baseball team which also gave him the opportunity to study at the University of Texas. He made the most of his time there, even joining the University's baseball team. He continued his education in banking at LSU and became a successful and well-respected banker in his early 30s. He served as the President and Chairman of the board at five different banks. He was also known as an entrepreneur to many and was always working on the next opportunity. His brilliance and love of crunching numbers was most evident when he worked complex deals off of a yellow notepad, that also served as a check list.

He would greet everyone with a hand shake or hug that made you feel like you were family. If you needed help, you knew you could count on him to be there. C.B. was always described as being generous, caring, thoughtful, kind and loving with a heart larger than life. As C.B. would say "I have more than I can ever say grace over" and that is how his family feels having done life with him in it. We will never forget someone who gave us so much to remember.
