Jennings: James was born in Breaux Bridge, LA on January 6, 1943, to Bradley Abraham, Sr., and Lena Batiste. And he was called from this life on August 1, 2021. James loved being outdoors, and fishing. His greatest joys came from spending time with his family and friends. James was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

James is survived by his longtime companion, Lucy Lyons; his five children, Shalonda Guidry, Elliot Withers, Sharron Johnson, Alislair Peterson, Sandra Peters; his three sisters, Willa Mae Alexander, Joyce Alexander, Earline Miller; as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, extend family and friends.

James is preceded in death by his parents, Lena & Bradley Abraham, Sr.; two sons, Larry Dugas Abraham, Gerald Keith Abraham; three sisters, Doris Abraham Palfrey, Zenobia Abraham Alexander, Elsie Abraham Soulairie; two brothers, Bradley Abraham, Jr., & Roy Abraham.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church for James J. Abraham, 78 of Jennings, LA on Saturday, August 7, 2021, at 11:00 AM.

Burial will follow in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cemetery.

Those chosen to honor James as his pallbearers will be Drekeylone Peters, Ronnie McZeal, Brandon McZeal, Jamal Jones, Donald Alexander, Damario Lyons, and Kayden Peters.

Visitation will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home Chapel beginning on Saturday, August 7th from 8:00 AM until the time of his funeral Mass at 11:00 AM with a Rosary beginning recited at 10:00 Am by Ella Dartez.
