Jim Hutchins passed away on August 1, 2021, at home surrounded by love.

James Leroy Hutchins was born on December 24, 1943, in Des Moines, Iowa. Jim was passionate when it came to electronics, the Air Force, his family and helping others. He would always make sure everyone had something to eat and there was plenty of food for everyone.

His greatest accomplishment in addition to his children was the IMS Tester and redesigning the Doppler Ground Speed Simulator for the A7 and A7d aircraft.

He married Jeri Gerischer in 1971, and they were blessed with 6 children.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters; Justeena (Mark) Wolodkewitsch, Tonya (Eric) Reed, Tricia (Chad) Weber, Tiffanie (Michael) Bales and Tammie (Josh) Lukins, son; Timothy (Brianna) Hutchins, 16 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, siblings; Mary Passick, Dean (Patty) Hutchins and Ricky (Sue) Hutchins.

In death James rejoins his parents Robert and Grace Hutchins, sisters; Janice, Billie, and Dutchie, brothers; Mike and Bobby and a great grandchild.

Visitation will be from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 5, 2021, at the Merle Hay Funeral Home Chapel, 4400 Merle Hay Road, Des Moines, Iowa 50310. Funeral Service will start at 11:30 a.m.

Interment will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
