Melanie Shemwell Hicks, 54, passed away Monday, August 2, 2021.

Per her wishes no services will be scheduled. Cremation is under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Panhandle.

Melanie was born September 17, 1966 in Amarillo to Thomas Douglas Shemwell and Virginia Lee Walls Shemwell. She married Bryan Scott Hicks on November 26, 1992 in Amarillo. Melanie enjoyed reading, going for walks and was an avid animal lover. Nothing brought more joy to her life than being with her daughters.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, Bryan of Panhandle; daughters, Casey Hicks-Steward and husband Brandon of Amarillo, Andie Hicks-Stewart and husband Hunter of Killeen; a granddaughter due to arrive September 3rd, Wrenley Virginia Steward; brother, Ralph Shemwell and wife Melinda of Panhandle; nephew, Ryan Shemwell and wife Shelby of Hinesville, Georgia; niece, Hanna Williams and husband Westin of Panhandle; and her abundance of extended Hicks family including brother and sister-in-laws; and numerous nieces and nephews.
