Charles West, Jr.

Charles West, Jr., was born on October 20, 1970, to Charles West, Sr. and the late Mary Harrison West. Charles attended Wesley Elementary and M.C. Williams Middle School.

He also went to Booker T. Washington and Aldine Sr. High School. In 1990, he graduated from Sam Houston Senior High School.

In 1998, Charles moved to Dallas, Texas, to follow his career and in 2008, Charles moved back to Houston to take care of his mom. Charles met the love of his life, Laurel Lewis, in 2008, and they later married on April 26, 2013.

For four years he worked for a security company on the ferry landing in Galveston. Two years later he worked on a second job working for Galveston College. In 2012, Charles started working for the City of Galveston as a labor worker and within a year he was the Superintendent over the traffic and signal department.

Charles was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Harrison-West; brother, Edward "Chick-a-boo" West; and nephew, Marcus DeWayne West.

Charles went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 27, 2021, at HCA Clear Lake Hospital, in Webster, Texas, surrounded by his loving family.

Charles leaves to cherish memories of him, his loving wife, Laurel West; five children, Cha Coya, Lazarius, Charles III, LaZaya, Cha'Lara; his dad, Charles West; his step-mom, Helen West; sisters, Vickie (Connally), La Tasha (Kalvin), Kristie (William), Christina (Eugene), Goldie (Carl); one brother, Charlton West; god-children, Sha Terrika West-Malone, Paula Washington and Kyra Peaks. His favorite nephew, Edward West; his favorite uncle, Andrew; father-in-law, Minister Isaac Wrenn III; mother-in-law, Katherine Wrenn; sister-in-laws, Teatra Holiday, La Deatra Holiday, a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends as well as his co-workers.
