Donald "Donnie" Wayne Parks, 77, of Whiting, Iowa passed away Monday, August 2, 2021 at Pleasant View Care Center, Whiting, Iowa.
A Funeral Mass will be 10:30 A.M. Friday, August 6, 2021 at St. John Catholic Church in Onawa, with Father Michael Erpelding, celebrant, officiating. Burial will be in the Onawa Cemetery, Onawa, Iowa. Visitation will be 9:30 A.M. - 10:30 A.M. Friday, August 6, 2021 at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service, Onawa, Iowa.
Donald Wayne was born December 26, 1943 in Onawa, Iowa, the son of Wayne Allan and Marjorie Louise (Stanislav) Parks. Donnie graduated from the Iowa School for the Deaf in Council Bluffs, Iowa, in 1964. He kept in close contact with his classmates.
Donnie enjoyed and loved helping his dad on the farm. He drove truck for lots of farmers. Donnie especially had a special bond with his mom; he loved his family dearly, especially his nieces and nephews. He collected everything John Deere; hats, cards, tractors, and had lots of John Deere memorabilia. He enjoyed playing cards and going to the casino. Donnie was a kind man to everyone. He unfortunately had one struggle after another throughout his whole life; yet always had a positive attitude and a contagious smile, with a heart of gold.
Donnie was a member of the St. John Catholic Church in Onawa, Iowa.
He resided at Pleasant View Care Center for the last nine years. He was very social at the nursing home. He made friends easily and always appreciated the great care from the nursing staff.
Survivors include his mom, Marjorie (Stanislav) Parks of Whiting, Iowa; sister, Mary Lou Bellis of Whiting, Iowa, brother, William Parks of Onawa, Iowa, brother, Thomas (Debra) Parks of Boonville, Missouri, brother, Frederick (Cindy) Parks of Moorhead, Iowa, brother, Larry (Patti) Parks of Onawa, Iowa, sister, Barbara (Dana) Bring of South Sioux City, Nebraska, and sister, Joann (Lary) Clark of Mondamin, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, Wayne Parks; maternal grandparents; paternal grandparents; and many special aunts, uncles, and cousins.
