NARA War Department records list this soldiers Home of Record as Shawnee County, Kansas...Died Non-Battle.

PFC Spencer was a crewman on B-26B #41-17590, assigned to the 5th Air Force, 38th Bombardment Group, 70th Bombardment Squadron. They were flying from Nandi airfield in Fiji on a local altitude training flight. They had a mid-air collision with P-39D #41-7043 south of Itai Island. Both planes plummeted into the sea and all men aboard were killed.

Because his body was not recovered, Spencer's name is inscribed on the Tablets of the Missing at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific in Hawaii(see Memorial ID 56132313). .
