Roberta Rose left to be with our Lord on October 10, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. Roberta was born July 19, 1939 in Crow Agency, to Jeannette Burns and Robert (Jiggs) Yellowtail.

She attended schools in Crow Agency, St. Xavier, Sacred Heart Academy and graduated from Hardin High School in 1958. Later in life she attended Eastern Montana College in Billings for two years. She was married to Tony Vandersloot from 1958 to 1975. She then married Jim Rose from 1976-1979.

Roberta was a member of the Crow Tribe. She worked for the Crow Law and Order, 17-H School District, and Morrison-Knudsen in 1972 until her retirement in 2001.

She was a life-long member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church and attended daily mass, taught catechism and did the alter linens. She was a Campfire Girl leader and board member. She enjoyed bowling for many years. She held the office of President of the Hardin Bowling Assoc. as well as league president.

After retirement she enjoyed working in her organic vegetable garden where she shared the bounty with all her friends, neighbors, and family. She was a lover and feeder of animals, feeding all the "starving" strays. Many ended up as house pets. She saved a Chocolate Lab, Miss Friday, who was about to be euthanized and she became her constant companion. Upon her sister Helen's death she took in Ms. Bodie Rose.

She loved to cook and bake. She cooked many lunches for the Coal Miners at Sarpy Creek. Her family never left empty handed after a visit; Homemade bagels, cookies, and bread. Come October everyone waited for her famous popcorn balls to arrive in the mail!

She also enjoyed playing Bingo with all her Bingo Buddies and her monthly luncheons with friends and classmates.

She was preceded in death by her mother Jeanette Burns, her sisters Joan Burns and Helen Wiseman, daughter in law Lisa Martin and her loyal companion Miss Friday.

Survivors include her children Robyn Spaulding (Dick Lawrence), Kelly Furgason (John) and Greg Vandersloot, Allison Pederson (Robert). Grandchildren Jennifer and Jamie Spaulding, Brooke, Marissa, Sara and Adrienne Pederson. Great-grandchildren Taylor, Margo, Theodore, Mary and Eleanore.

We also want to give a special thanks to Kevin (Pam) Vandersloot, Charles (Tammy) Vandersloot and Kristi Robertson who were the "first responders" and helpers when moms health started to fade.

Rosary and Funeral mass will be celebrated 10:00 am Monday in the St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery. Bullis Mortuary has been entrusted with the arrangements
