Virginia Lee Johnson 'Uluakiola (73) passed away July 21, 2021 in American Fork. Virginia was born January 3, 1948 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Lucille Van Boskirk Johnson and David Wrathall Johnson. Married to Fineasi Feleti "Fred" 'Uluakiola on May 14, 1968.

Virginia met her husband of 53 years, Fred, while they were both students attending BYU in Provo. They lived in Taylorsville, UT in the same home for almost 30 years, raising 2 children, John Fred 'Uluakiola and Christina Kalesita ('Uluakiola) Wilson.

Virginia was a teacher for over 30 years changing and touching the lives of hundreds and hundreds of children. She first started her career in education as a pre-school teacher for Utah Technical College, now Salt Lake Community College, in the 1980's. Virginia returned to college at the age of 40 to pursue a life long dream of becoming an Elementary School Teacher. She graduated with her Associates degree from Utah Technical College (now Salt Lake Community College). She then continued her education with the University of Utah and graduated with her Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education. She started her 23-year career with Granite School District in 1990, finally accomplishing her ultimate goal of becoming an Elementary Teacher. Virginia did not stop once she had reached her goal though. She then returned back to school completing her Graduate degree with the Utah State Board of Education, earning a Master's Degree in Education with a 4.0 GPA through Weber State University. Mrs. 'Uluakiola, or as the school kids innocently nicknamed her "Mrs. Ukulele or Mrs. Guacamole", was a Certified Reading Specialist, ESL (English As A Second Language) teacher, and taught grades 1-4. Her favorite was ESL and first grade. Virginia was also a truly gifted artist exceeding both in painting and drawing. However, if you would have asked Virginia what her greatest accomplishment was in life, she would have said simply said, "Being a Grandma."

She is survived by her husband, Fineasi Feleti (Fred) 'Uluakiola, mother, Lucille J. Pidd, son, John Fred 'Uluakiola, daughter, Christina Kalesita ('Uluakiola) Wilson, granddaughter, Lauren Leilani 'Uluakiola, grandson, James David Fineasi Wilson, granddaughter, Elizabeth Kalesita Lucille Wilson, and son-in-law, Hugh Dansby Wilson Jr.

She is preceded in death by her father, David Wrathall Johnson, grandmother, Blanche Barlow Van Boskirk, and her 3 most beloved & faithful dogs, Buttons, Peeka, and Boo.
