Tribute: Leland Joseph Wheeler was born to Morris and Maggie (Boatman) Wheeler in Orleans, Nebraska where he spent his childhood. On November 23, 1941 he married Dorothe Snider in Kimball, Nebraska. During the Second World War, Mr. Wheeler worked at the Hanford Nuclear weapons plant in Washington State. They then moved to Sunnyside, Oregon and Leland worked in the ship yards on the Liberty Ships. The family moved to Colorado in 1947 where Leland worked out of Operating Engineers #9 maintaining construction equipment. They moved to Northglenn in 1963 where Leland worked out of Pipefitters Local 208, installing natural gas lines.

Mr. Wheeler was a 32 Degree Mason.

Mr. Wheeler died Monday, November 5, 2007 at Woodridge Terrace Nursing Home in Commerce City, Colorado.

Survivors: His wife, Dorothe Wheeler; sons, Lonny Wheeler and wife Leila of Lenora, KS, John Wheeler and wife Patricia of Northglenn, CO; daughter, Ledora Jolene Saccomano and husband John of Las Vegas, NV; twelve grand children; 21 great-grandchildren; a brother, James Wheeler of Orleans, NE; a sister, Rachel Burch of Richland, WA.
