Rev. Basil B Bass "BB", age 87, of Long Beach, Mississippi passed away on July 31, 2021.
BB was born on June 24, 1934 to Lloyd and Artie Bass in Long Beach, Mississippi. He graduated from Long Beach High School.
After graduation, he joined the Navy at the age of seventeen and served in the Korean War. Rev. Bass worked as the Internal Revenue Officer at the Naval Base in Gulfport, Ms from 1959 and retired in 1988. He was also ordained as a Baptist Minister on August 15, 1967.
Among the churches Rev. Bass pastored were Biloxi Creek Baptist Church in Perkinston, MS, Persimmon Hill Baptist Church in the Riceville Community, MS, Central Baptist Church in Long Beach, MS, and First Baptist Church of Delisle in Delisle, MS. After touching many lives, Rev. Bass retired from the ministry with 57 years of faithful service to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Rev. Bass was preceded in death by his sons, Charles Bruce Bass and Ronald Eugene Bass; his parents, Lloyd and Artie Bass; beloved sister, Nona Lee Bass Watts; brothers, Reginald Bass, Carl Bass, Troy Bass, and Owen Eli Bass; and granddaughter, Callie Bass.
He is survived by his daughters, Donna Bass Parker (William) and Pam Bass Couvillion (Steve); mother of his children, Jean Fulgium; grandchildren, Jessica Lewis, Bruce Cirksena, Donavan Cirksena, Kym Bass Stevens, Michael Walls, Megan Cuevas, Derrick Bass, and Peyton Bass; 11 great grandchildren; sister in laws, Gay Bass and Carol Bass; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
He will be sadly missed by all that knew and loved him, but are comforted in knowing that he is rejoicing in his heavenly home.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at 11 AM, with visitation starting at 10 AM at Divine Grace Baptist Church, 5570 Red Creek Rd, Long Beach, MS 39560.
Burial will follow at Allen Cemetery. Riemann Family Funeral Home, 19130 Commission Rd., Long Beach served the family.
