Ronald Joseph Griffin was born January 26, 1941 in Lima, Ohio to Alfred J. and F. Lorraine (Peters) Griffin. He died August 1, 2021 at Blanchard Valley Hospital, Findlay, Ohio.
He is survived by his brother, Thomas Griffin of Findlay, and his sister, Bonnie (Scott) Curry of Salem, SC. He is also survived by his nieces, Kim (Albert) Hamilton of Findlay, Julie (Mark) Walski of Austin, MN, Hilary (Jon) Perrino of Pleasant Prairie, WI and by his nephews, Matthew (Hyunsheen) Curry of Lake Forest Park, WA and Mark (Amanda) Griffin of Findlay. Preceding him in death were his father and mother.
Ron was a 1959 graduate of Findlay High School and graduated from John Carroll University with a Masters in Mathematics. Ron taught mathematics at the high school and college levels. He was a long time farm owner. Later, he was an IT manager for the Red Cross and performed IT work for a local law firm in Findlay.
Ron was an amateur radio operator and active for many years in the Findlay Radio Club W8FT, serving as Treasurer and Membership Chairman. He was also previously involved with HEARS (Hancock Emergency Amateur Radio System) in the county. He was an accomplished organ and piano player and a past member of the Millstream Singers. He especially enjoyed classical music, crossword puzzles and had an avid, life-long love of trains and all things associated with the rail system.
Ron was a member of Saint Michael the Archangel Catholic Parish where his beloved grand piano can still be heard. He loved spending time with his brother, sister, brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. We all greatly benefited by his love and generosity. He will truly be missed by family and friends.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, August 4, 2021 from 5-8 PM at Coldren-Crates Funeral Home 205 West Sandusky St, Findlay, Ohio where the Rosary Service will held at 7:30 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, August 5, 2021 at Saint Michael the Archangel Parish, 750 Bright Road, Findlay, Ohio 45840 with Celebrant Father Peter Grodi.
