Andy was born to Arthur Johan and Mary Margaret (Byrne) Jackson on November 13, 1939 in Brooklyn, New York. He married Barbara A. (Lavery) on May 5, 1973 at St. Vincent de Paul Church in Corning. At the time of her passing in 2020, Barbara and Andy were married for 47 years. Andy was a loving and devoted father, who was dedicated to supporting his children's interests, education and extracurricular activities. He enjoyed his time supporting Pack 91 as a cub scout leader.
Andy was a US Air Force Captain and held roles as an Electrical Design Engineer and Squadron Commander. He joined Corning Glass Works in 1964. Andy supported Corning as an Engineer and Project Manager for domestic and internal projects. He retired from Corning Incorporated in 2005 with 41 years active service.
Andy was a faithful communicant of All Saints Parish and held roles as Scripture Lector, Eucharistic Minister and formerly as principal of High School CCD at St. Vincent de Paul Church in Corning. He was a former lay coordinator of the Cursillo movement for the Southern Tier and a past Grand Knight of the Corning Council #281 of the Knights of Columbus.
Andy graduated from Regis High School in New York City, NY (1957); Manhattan College in New York City, NY (1961) and earned his B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering; Corning Community College in Corning, NY (1980) with an A.S. degree in Business Administration; and George Washington University in Washington D.C. (2002) where he earned a Masters Certificate in Project Management.
Andy is survived by his children: Andrew (Jennifer) Jackson, Highlands Ranch, CO, Thomas Jackson, Latrobe, PA, and Ann (Brett) Nordman, Corning, NY; Sister Mary Jackson, FMA, Hawthorne, NJ; and grandchildren: Allison, Brian and Brennan Nordman, Claire, Sara and Andrew Jackson and Evan Shank.
