She was born November 16, 1932 in Union County to the late Bainer Marsh Simpson and Leona Frances Helms Simpson. After Leona Simpson's death, Bainer married Louise Helms, who raised Helen as her own daughter.
Helen was preceded in death, in addition to her parents by brothers Billy Marsh Simpson, Kenneth O'Neil Simpson, and B. Charles Simpson. Helen was Mother to Terry Michael Gearing of Kannapolis. She leaves a brother, Robert (Sandra) Simpson of Kannapolis; sisters, Gaynell Crainshaw of Kannapolis and Margaret (Dennis) Blackwelder of Kannapolis. Also left to cherish her memory are her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Helen was loved by many nieces and nephews.
She was employed by Cannon Mills Company in the Supply Department for many years and when she retired, she was a Greeter for Wal-Mart, a position that brought her much joy. She was a member of Sharon Baptist Church, Kannapolis.
Helen was a devoted Mother, a caring and loving sister, and a positive role model for her family and friends. And Helen loved her two fur-baby cats, Baby Cat and Molly with all her heart.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, August 5, 2021 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Strickland and Rev. Jim Bailey officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. Visitation will be prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 PM Thursday at Whitley's Funeral Home.
