Mrs. Sarah Ellen Peterson

Funeral Services Held at Jensen over Remains of Mrs. Sarah Ellen Peterson. Mrs. Sarah Ellen Peterson died at her home in Jensen, Monday June 2, and funeral services were held Wednesday June 4th at Jensen Chapel.

Mrs. Fred Wall and Mrs. Robert Johnstun sang "Have I Done Any Good in the World Today," prayer was offered Frank Billings, duet, "Sister, Thou Was Mild and Lovely," Andrew Dudley spoke of the early life of Mrs. Peterson and his acquaintance with her and Driver E. Smith made a consoling talk. Mrs. Robert Johnstun sang, "One Fleeting Hour," the closing song was "Some Time We'll Understand," sung by Mrs. Fred Wall and Mrs. Robert Johnstun, Ray and Stephen Poulsen, closing prayer was offered by Joseph H. Dudley.

A large cortege followed the remains to the Jensen Cemetery , where Amasa Caldwell, second counselor to the bishop dedicated the grave. Six brothers acted as pallbearers.

Mrs. Peterson was born in Dixie which is now Washington County, Utah, July 28, 1865 and was the daughter of Maria Nelson Murray and Jerry Murray. She married Peter F. Peterson at Spanish Fork in 1886. They later came to Jensen where they made their home.

She was the mother of eight children: four boys and four girls. Three girls and one boy preceded her in death.

She is survived by her husband, Peter F. Peterson, one daughter, Mrs. Rex Spendlove; three sons, Ivan, Orval, and Marvin, all of Jensen; three sisters, Elizabeth Snow, Jensen; Mary Merkley, Vernal; Margarete Harrison, Lapoint; nine brothers, Riley, Stephen and John Murray of Jensen, Jerry Murray, Roosevelt, Will, Sam and Andrew, Vernal, Hatch Murray, Craig, Colorado and Joseph Murray, Chandler, Arizona.

Mrs. Peterson was a faithful worker in the church all her life. She worked both in the Relief Society and the Mutual Improvement Association for many years.
