Kathryn was born on August 2, 1929 in Memphis, Tennessee - a true child of the great depression. She arrived in Miami, Florida at 2 years of age when her father was asked by his brother to be the butcher in his newly acquired grocery store. She graduated from Miami High School and was a nearly straight-A student. Not having the money to go to college she went to work briefly.
At that time roller skating was very popular. She loved it and went all the time with her friends. Many soldiers had just recently returned from WWII and skated at the popular rinks around Miami. That's where she met Glenn Jones. They fell in love and married on Thanksgiving Day, 1948. Soon they had a family and moved from Miami to Hialeah. She was a loving mother and wife and a fantastic cook. She and her husband became very involved in their church. Kathryn became a Bible teacher in her early twenties and served the Lord in that capacity for 50+ years until health issues prevented her from continuing. She always said that it was her very great pleasure and privilege to teach the scripture. She then served the Lord as a dedicated prayer warrior which she could do anywhere, anytime and did it well. She loved the Lord with all her heart. She was also a polio survivor, having contracted it just before the Salk vaccine came out.
She moved with her daughter and son-in-law to Fuquay-Varina, NC in July of 2019 to be near their son, daughter-in-law and 3 grandchildren - her great grands. She loved this last brief period of time to be with them for birthdays and holidays and having Sunday dinner together almost every week.
