Roland Ellis Jones
October 30, 1957 ~ May 26, 2021 (age 63)

Roland Ellis Jones, age 63 passed away on Wednesday, May 26, 2021.

Roland was a big softy and a bit of a bad ass. He was a loving father, son and brother who would do anything for his two sons, Andrew and Zach, his mother and family. He enjoyed making people laugh, especially his mother. Roland was full of mischief, resulting in many funny stories and memories. He was an honorable man who felt strongly about choosing to be on the right side of right, and wanted nothing to do with anyone who chose the wrong side of right.

As a young man he enjoyed waterskiing, camping, shooting guns, catching venomous snakes and hunting in the Everglades. After high school, Roland followed in his father's footsteps and joined the United States Army. He achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant and was a proud member of the 82nd Airborne Division. Among many earned medals and commendations his favorite achievements were his M16 Expert Marksman Badge, Parachute Badge and French Armed Forces Commando Badge. He also was a Black Belt in Karate.

After the Army, he became an electrician working throughout Palm Beach County. He continued to enjoy spending time with his sons, mother and family, as well as fishing, shooting guns, and riding his Harley Davidson. He recently retired as an electrician with the West Palm Beach Veterans Medical Center, where he intended to start volunteering.

Graveside services with full military honors are scheduled for July 14 at the South Florida National Cemetery.
