Supervisory Patrol Agent Dan Cox was killed in a vehicle crash near milepost 128 on State Route 86 near Sells, Arizona, at about 12:20 am.
Agent Cox's patrol vehicle and another vehicle collided head-on. Agent Cox and the driver of the other vehicle were both killed in the crash.
Agent Cox had served with the United States Border Patrol for 24 years.
Native of Felton, California, served his country honorably and with distinction as an infantryman in the United States Army. He then began a 24- year career as a United States Border Patrol Agent where he served with great success as a leader in the Border Search Trauma and Rescue Unit. Mr. Cox was also accomplished as a Canine Handler, having saved the lives of numerous people in his tour of service.
Mr. Daniel P. Cox is preceded in death by his mother Barbra Cox. He is survived by his Father, Stacey Dronet of Katy, Texas, two daughters Elizabeth Cox, of Arlington Texas, Alexandra Cox, of Sahuarita, Arizona, Girlfriend Melissa Artz of Marana, Arizona, Siblings Gilbert and Sonia Cox of Katy, Texas, Lucas Fullerton of Everett, Washington, and many other loving family members abroad.
