In 2013 she moved to Fredericksburg, VA to be closer to her daughter. She was a charter member of Faith United Methodist Church serving for over 50 years by teaching Sunday school, singing in the choir, and visiting and helping church members in any way she was needed. She loved her Lord and was doing His work at all times. Being among the first staff to open Edison High School, she worked for the Fairfax County Public School System until her retirement in 1980. After her retirement, she realized how much she enjoyed children, so she volunteered at Groveton Elementary School for many years.
Emily was the loving wife of the late Vincent Atkins and the late Albert Lewis Pullin; beloved mother of Susan Morris (Thomas) of Fredericksburg, VA; sister of Dorothy McMahan of Virginia Beach, VA; grandmother of Jill Corley (Stephen) of Stafford, VA and John Morris (Christy) of Annandale, VA; great-grandmother of Jessica, Scott, and Brandon Corley and Conner and Jackson Morris. In addition, she is survived by several nephews and a niece.
Relatives and friends may call at Jefferson Funeral Chapel, 5755 Castlewellan Drive, Alexandria, VA on Wednesday, March 4 from 12 noon until time of service at 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow at 2:30 p.m. at National Memorial Park, Falls Church, VA.
