Robert J. Sparks, age 88, a lifelong resident of Indianapolis, passed away Thursday July 29, 2021. Bob was the son of the late Alan Leo and Mary Jane (Wilcox) Sparks. He retired from Western Electric company and was an inspector there. Bob served his country during the Korean War. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic church where he served as an usher, on the parish council and the finance committee. He was active in the Cursill Movement. Bob was a member of the American Legion Post #3, and a volunteer for St. Vincent de Paul and Shepherd Center at St. Paul's Episcopal Church.

He is survived by his wife Cheryl Hine sparks; his daughters, Catherine (James) Petraits, Lisa (Alex) Steele and Susan Sparks; grandchildren, Samantha Petraits, Korey and Quinn Steele; and brother James Richard Sparks.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday August 3, 2021 at 1 pm in Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Family and friends will gather on Monday August 2, 2021 from 4-8 pm at Leppert Mortuary--Nora Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society.
