Christopher Lee Long Visitor was born on July 18, 1984 in Pine Ridge, SD to Angie Two Lance and Ivis Long Visitor, Sr. Christopher made his journey to the Spirit World on July 31, 2021 in Okaton, SD.

Chris Long Visitor was the toughest Indian in the world. He once cut his knee so deep you could see the bone, but he didn't cry or even ask for a Band-Aid. He once scrapped it with three boys who had been picking on his cousin, and wouldn't you know it, he beat all three! He once pierced at a Sundance and begged to do it a third time, only to be told by the medicine man that a 10 year old shouldn't have to suffer that much.

Chris was the toughest Indian in the world and on Saturday afternoon, he walked out of a hospital in Sioux Falls, hopped into his dad's back seat and headed west on I-90, bound for his mom's trailer near Oglala, SD.

The 37-year-old had decided to spend his last days in his late mother's home, surrounded by his family and friends, the people he loved most and who loved him dearly, recounting old war stories and saying goodbye. He wanted to pass peacefully before joining his ancestors and his mom Angie, brother Shilo, and grandma Roselyn in the Spirit World. But instead, he died on the car ride home. His dad Ivis and brother Ernie in the front seat, sister Wylene and her husband Elgin behind them in their van.

But wouldn't you know it, Chris never cried once on that ride home! Though his dad could see the pain written on his furrowed brow and could hear him talking to and reaching out for the relatives who had come to take him home.

He didn't get to see his beloved Pine Ridge Reservation one last time, the place where he became the father to seven children and learned to love. Where he became the first among his father's children to earn a high school diploma and then later a certificate to practice car repair. Where he donned the uniform of a BIA police officer and patrolled his people's vast reservation, fighting to keep his relatives safe and alive. And where he developed a taste for liquor and beer.

Because even the toughest Indian in the world couldn't win every fight, though he fought to the end.

And so, we will give Chis his final wish, and surround him with our love, tell war stories and say goodbye --- the way we once did when warriors would fall in battle and return to the ancestors and the Great Spirit in the sky.

Christopher is survived by his father, Ivis Long Visitor, Sr.; children, Autumn Long Visitor, Antwon Long Visitor, Diana Long Visitor, Mia Long Visitor, Dani Rae Martin, Briana Plenty Arrows, Rylan Bagola, and Chelsea Rouillard; sisters, Ylene Long Visitor, Leah Long Visitor, Sadie Long Visitor, and Carlene Long Visitor; brothers, Ernest Long Visitor and Ivis Long Visitor, Jr.; aunts, Carmelita Long Visitor, Yvonne Long Visitor, Beverly Two Lance, and Violet Two Lance; uncles, Gaylen Holy Rock and Terry Two Lance; hunka parents, Dee & Red Two Bulls; and hunka daughter, Marlee Goings.
