Eunice Martha Spruce Woods was born on May 28, 1924, in Zion City, Alabama to the late Aspie Roy and Mattie Lee Spruce. She died on June 25, 2015. She was preceded in death by two children, Charles Woods and Beverly Woods and brothers, Alonzo and Crawford Spruce. She attended and graduated from Hooper City High School and went on to receive her nursing degree from Cuyahoga Community College in Cleveland, Ohio. Eunice was a nurse for many years in Cleveland and Chardon Ohio and retired in 1978 when they moved to St. Augustine, Florida. Eunice gave her life to God at an early age. She was a faithful member of Euclid Avenue Church of God in Cleveland Ohio and St. Paul AME Church, St. Augustine, Florida. Eunice served in the choir, the Senior Stars, a Sunday school teacher, Stewardess Board and Missionary Society. Eunice was truly a pillar in the community, she was a missionary called by the Governor for the State of Florida serving St. Johns, Duval and Volusia counties; served on the Board of the St. Francis House Soup Kitchen; volunteered at the St. Johns County Sheriff's office, People Helping People, Habitat for Humanity, Catholic Charities and the Committee for Social Justice. Eunice leaves to cherish her memory a loving and devoted husband of 66 years Johnnie Woods; daughter, Tammy Lewis (Arthur), Jacksonville, Florida; devoted sister, Berniece Kerr, Cleveland, Ohio; grandchildren; godchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, caring friends and neighbors. Services: 11 a.m. Friday, July 3, 2015, at St. Paul AME Church, Ron Rawls, pastor. Callings hours are 5-7 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. until the service hour on Friday. Burial: Memorial Park. Leo C.
