US Congressman. He was editor of the Hardin County Republican in 1881 and 1882, and served as a teacher and then vice president of Tri-State College, 1885 to 1917. In 1917 he was elected as a Republican to the Sixty-fifth Congress and to the three succeeding Congresses, serving until 1925. A unsuccessful candidate for renomination, he resumed teaching and was a lecturer until his death.
