David was a Scottish professional footballer who played in the Football League for Chelsea FC.
A tall commanding half back who had served in WW1. Signed for Chelsea in the summer of 1920 having played for Queens Park. According to reports there was "no better player in Scottish football" at the time.
An unfortunate rib injury in his first game for Chelsea kept him on the sidelines for four months and his only prolonged spell in the first team was at centre half in the 1922-23 season.
He had served in the Highland Light Infantry and the Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders during the First World War and rose to the rank of sergeant. His elder brother Macdonald, also a footballer for Queen's Park, was killed at Passchendaele in 1917.
