On April 14, 2021, Jacqueline Joan (Eaker) Harris passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, in Fountain Hills, AZ. Jackie was born in the very small town of Big Sandy, TN on February 10, 1933. She was one of three girls. Her family moved to Detroit, Michigan and she graduated from Hazel Park High School and received her Nursing Degree from the University of Detroit (formerly Mercy College).

While on a girl's getaway to Point Pelee Island in Ontario, CA., Jackie met her husband, Gerald, who was also there with some friends. They married in 1955 and had four children. In 1972, the family moved to Union City, TN for Jerry's career, but returned to Troy, MI in 1977. In 1996, after a long career of compassionately caring for others, Jackie retired from Beaumont Hospital - Troy. She and Jerry moved to Bonita Springs, FL. They loved their many years in Florida, close to their siblings, but due to her declining health, they decided to move to Arizona in 2015 to be closer to three of their four children.

Jackie had many talents. She was a wonderful artist, who enjoyed drawing, painting, sewing, needlepoint, and quilting. She made many creative Halloween costumes for her children and grandchildren over the years. Jackie loved to read, shop, travel, and garden. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, sisters, and special friends. Jackie was always a lady and her beauty on the inside matched her stunning beauty on the outside. Jackie was a wonderful role model to her children and grandchildren, showing them through her deeds the importance of helping those less fortunate. She was always collecting items to donate, sewing Christmas stockings to fill with goodies for underprivileged children, sending off checks to a variety of charities, and even helped build houses with Habitat for Humanity after retiring.

Jackie is survived by her husband of over 65 years, Gerald (Jerry) Harris: children Steven Jed Harris, Susan (Jaime) McWeeny, Paul B. Harris, and Amy Harris; grandchildren Emily Harris, Allison Harris, Ryan McWeeny, and Matthew McWeeny. She was preceded in death by her father John Harmon Eaker and mother Mary Naoma (Stockdale) Eaker: her sister Laura Susewitt and several beloved aunts, uncles, and a niece and nephew.

The family had a small family farewell ceremony on Monday, April 19th and will have a Memorial and Interment of Ashes in Dawson Springs, KY this summer.
