Philip Tyrone Johnson was born on July 31, 1967 in Gladewater, Texas to the union of Leonard Gene and Gloria Jean Richardson Johnson.
He spent his childhood years growing up in the Red Rock Community with his siblings, cousins and other neighborhood children.
His dad, Leonard, coached him and his brothers in little league baseball for many years, and through these experiences, Tyrone grew to love all sports, especially baseball and football, and he was a "Ride or Die" fan of the Dallas Cowboys!
Tyrone became a member of the St. James Missionary Baptist Church of Gladewater on September 19, 1976, under the leadership of Rev. L.C. Johnson. He was active in the Sunday School, Youth Ushers, Junior Choir, Male Chorus, Junior Deacons, and the Choraleers Youth Choir.
He was educated in the Gladewater Independent School District where he played junior high school football, was a trumpet player in the GHS Bear Band, and served as the statistician for the athletic department. He graduated from Gladewater High School in 1985 and then attended Kilgore Junior College in Kilgore, Texas.
He married Regina Kay Dangerfield in 1992 and they had two children.
As a young man, Tyrone worked in the iron/steel industry at Vesuvius USA, based in Tyler, Texas. He later worked as an independent contractor for Mrs. Baird's Bread Company in Dallas, Texas. He also did construction work in Houston and Louisiana.
After a short illness, Philip Tyrone Johnson departed this earthly life on July 17, 2021. At the time of his demise, he was a patient at Methodist Hospital in Dallas, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his father, Leonard; and his grandparents, Alfred and Ozella Johnson, and J.C. and Maxcile Richardson.
Tyrone is survived by: his mother, Gloria Johnson of Gladewater, Texas; his children, Shamonda and Braylon Johnson of Paris, Texas, and LaToyja Barnes of Gladewater, Texas; his grandchildren, Samorria Daniels, Nerriah Barnes, and Sarai Johnson of Gladewater, Texas, and Braylon Johnson, Jr. of Paris, Texas; his brothers, Richard Johnson (Sherie) of Deer Park, Texas, Ray Anthony Johnson and Stephen Johnson, both of Gladewater, Texas; and his sister, Christy Johnson of White Oak, Texas.
He will be sorely missed by his aunts, Shirley Henderson of Pottstown, Pennsylvania, Ester Timms of Dallas Texas and Patricia Richardson of Gladewater, Texas; his uncles, Rochester Johnson and Jimmy Richardson, both of Gladewater, Texas, and Laverio Richardson of Ft. Worth, Texas.
He also leaves behind to cherish his memories, several nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends.
