He was united in marriage to Lynn Strong on July 26, 2010 in Jefferson City.
He was a 1970 graduate of Lincoln Lab. He went on to earn an Associate's degree from Lincoln University in Business Management.
He worked for Union Pacific Railroad for 8 years before joining the local bricklayer's union and working as a mason for 23 years.
Leonard enjoyed swimming and riding his bike, listening to music but especially loved spending time with his family and friends.
He was a thoughtful and generous man and will be greatly missed in the community.
Leonard is survived by his loving wife, Lynn Simmons; children, Corey D. Simmons and Y'Keta Canada; grandchildren, Alexis Key, Devin White and Tristan Simmons; great-grandchildren, A'mir Session, Kwa'Mauri Watson, Kha'Lani Hopson and Di'aire Grady.
Services are private for the family.
