Our beautiful and wonderful mother, JoAnn Martin, 81, went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 23, 2021. She passed away peacefully at home in Baltimore, MD. She was born to Ennis & Willie Polk on December 10, 1940, in Kingsville, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 61 years, Louis Martin Sr., and one son Jeffery Jerome Martin.
She is survived by four children: Michael Polk of San Angelo, Louis Martin Jr. of San Angelo, Gerald Martin (Beth), and Angela Martin-Anderson, Ten grandchildren, LaQuisha and Gerald Polk, JoAnn and Tre Martin, Meagan, Moriah, and Mikaela Martin, Ross Spear Martin, Jalen Anderson, and Jorden Anderson, Four sisters, Alvetta Dimrey, Cheryl Crider, Lynell Ellisa, and Patsy Brown. As well as many numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other family members.
She grew up in San Angelo, then got married to the love of her life. As a military wife, she did a lot of traveling and never met a stranger. Her life was dedicated to her husband, kids, and family. She had a big heart and a kind spirit. She was well loved by many. Her legacy will live on.
She was a cook for 20 years at San Angelo Independent School District at Lincoln, Central, and Lamar. She belonged to several social clubs, Lions Club, Rosary Reading, and Arts, and La Coteria. She was an avid bowler and bowled on her teams for many years. She was a mother of the Church at New Birth Full Gospel Assembly.
She will always be remembered as a sweet, happy lady who always had a smile and a kind word. She was loved and adored by many. She will be missed, as she takes her place as an ANGEL IN HEAVEN!
A visitation will be held on Friday, August 6, 2021, from 5:00PM-7:00PM at Harper Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2021, at 11:00AM at St. Paul's Baptist Church with burial to follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers for the service will be Ross Martin, Jalen Anderson, Jorden Anderson, Tony Owens, Clifford Wright, and Seth Lacy.
