A native of Spartanburg County, daughter of the late Rodeheaver Homer and Pauline Cook Rogers, Martha earned her undergraduate and master's degrees from Furman University and her PHd from the University of South Carolina. Her career in university administration took her to Virginia Wesleyan University in Virginia Beach, Virginia and Brenau University in Gainesville, Georgia. She began her university career and retired from Converse College (now University).
Surviving are her sister-in-law Dianne Rogers and nephew Robert Daniel "Danny" Rogers. She also leaves behind a host of cousins, friends, colleagues and former students who are forever grateful for her love and guidance.
Dr. Rogers was predeceased by one brother, Ronald Rogers.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, August 7, 2021, at The Wood Mortuary Chapel conducted by Rev. Keith Kelly. Burial will follow in Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
