Eric "Rick" McLaughlin, age 76, of Naperville, IL, and formerly of Quincy, died on Friday, July 30, 2021, at 5:16 pm in Edwards Hospital in Naperville, IL.
Rick was born on May 1, 1945 in Hannibal, Missouri, a son of Wayne L. and Ester M. Hogge McLaughlin. He married Billie J.Chandler on May 11, 1974 in Quincy Illinois. She survives.
Rick was a graduate of Quincy High School and Culver Stockton College. In 1968 Rick enlisted in the United States Naval Reserve, where he served until his honorable discharge in 1970.
Rick worked as a sales regional manager in the automotive aftermarket. He was also an avid golfer and was previously a teaching golf pro. Rick was a sports enthusiast, and he especially loved the Chicago Cubs. Most of all, he loved spending time with friends and family. In his world, everything was "Just Ducky"!
In addition to his wife, survivors include: his son, Kory (Natalie) McLaughlin of Oswego, IL; two grandsons, Kellen and Brody McLaughlin of Oswego, IL; his brother, Michael (Julie) McLaughlin of Quincy, IL; his sister-in-law, Linda Padavic of Quincy; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Eric was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Fred McLaughlin; a sister-in-law, Bonnie McLaughlin; and a brother-in-law, Ray Padavic.
Services: 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Disseler officiating.
Inurnment: Greenmount Cemetery, Quincy, IL with military honors provided by American Legion Post 37 and the United States Navy Funeral Honors Detail.
