Jan Ammons Sessoms, 71, of Pinehurst NC, formerly of Lumberton, passed away on September 23, 2010 at Moore Regional Hospital.

She was born on May 19, 1939.

Jan was an educator for the Robeson County School System for 28 years and three generations of lives have been impacted by her love for teaching. She has been an active member of Long Branch Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Lumberton before moving to Pinehurst in 1997. She was a charter member of First Baptist Church of Pinehurst. She was a past president and member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.

She was preceded in death by her parents Hubert Ammons and Vashti Ammons.

Jan is survived by her husband of 51 years, Charles Sessoms; one daughter, Kim Sessoms-Kimrey and husband Jeff of Southern Pines; two granddaughters, Sophie Kimrey and Miranda Kimrey; two sisters, Beth Brisson and Peggy Grant; and one brother, Hal Ammons, all of Lumberton.

The celebration of her life will be held at the First Baptist Church of Pinehurst. The graveside services will be held at Meadowbrook Cemetery.
