Dana Lloyd George
August 28, 1950 - July 28, 2021

Dana Lloyd George, "Hondo", 70, of Dawson, peacefully slipped from this life to an eternal resting place on Wednesday, July 28, 2021.

Graveside services and interment will be at 10 am on Saturday, August 7 at Mount Antioch Cemetery near Mount Calm with his nephew, Jason Ewing, officiating.

Dana was born in Mount Calm at his grandmother's home. Dana grew up in Richardson, was an eagle scout, and after high school,

Dana joined the Air Force. He served in the Air Force for eight years and five months, obtaining the rank of Sergeant. He was attached to the Airborne Command Post Communications as an Avionics Communication and Equipment Specialist. His decorations included Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Air Force Longevity Service Ribbon, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Ribbon, Vietnam Service Ribbon, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, and numerous Oak Leaf Clusters.

After Dana's honorable discharge from the Air Force, he worked in the semiconductor industry until 1995 when he retired and began taking care of his parents in their home. Next, Dana moved to Colleyville and later to Dawson. He was a man of many talents, rarely finding something he could not fix. He professed to be a self-taught engineer, legal eagle, and avid collector.

Dana enjoyed spending his time tinkering in his workshop, working on his motorcycle, attending annual May Day, and entertaining family, friends, and neighbors. He found solace in helping and giving to others; quite often giving items from his home and his time generously. Dana loved to bake and his favorite drink was Dr. Pepper, next to coffee, and for desert-chocolate cake or donuts.

We are proud to say Dana bravely faced his disease prognosis and chose to die the same way he chose to live, on his own terms. Although he would not acknowledge it, he was dearly loved, cared for, and will be sorely missed in our lives. The world was a better place because of him.

Dana was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his six siblings: sisters, Kathie and Liby; brothers, Bob, Mark, Mike, and Greg; his Aunt Tommie, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
