Mary "Lois" Ballard, 84, passed away peacefully in the presence of her family on July 29, 2021. Lois was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and devoted friend. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Lois was born October 31, 1936 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Otto Hofmann Tonini and Laura Shaw Tonini. She graduated from Classen High School, Oklahoma City, before attending Oklahoma State University, Stillwater. At OSU she was a member of the Delta Zeta Sorority, where she met her lifelong friend Sharon Gammill. Lois met Kieth Ballard at Classen High. They then attended OSU together. The happy couple married on December 28, 1956 at the Central Presbyterian Church in Oklahoma City. Following in the footsteps of her parents, Lois was an active member for over 50 years of many Masonic affiliated organizations, including the Social Order of the Beauceant, Daughters of the Nile, Order of the Amaranth, Order of the Eastern Star and Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem. She was also an active member of St. Marks United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and enjoyed attending Esther Women at St. Luke's United Methodist Church. Starting at a young age Lois became a proficient pianist which was a passion that followed her all of her life. She enjoyed sewing especially for the Shriners Hospitals for Children. She enjoyed outdoor activities including waterskiing, snow skiing and RV camping all over the United States and Canada. She had a passion for animals of all types and never turned away a stray. Lois is survived by her husband, Kieth Ballard; two daughters, Leslie Eastland (Rex) and Suzanne Charbeneau (Michael); five grandchildren Michael Rogers (Rachel), Bryan Rogers (Lindsay), Brandon Rogers, Michele Charbeneau and Shea Charbeneau; and by one sister Elizabeth Bulard. Lois is predeceased by her parents and her beloved son Mike Ballard. Viewing will be Sunday, August 1, from 12:00– 8:00 P.M. with family present, 4:00-6:00 P.M. at Mercer-Adams, Bethany. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, August 2nd at St. Mark's United Methodist Church, Bethany. Her resting place will be Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made out to India Shrine Children's Hospital Transportation Fund or to the organization of your choice in her memory.
